Believe it or not some actual caving was done during the MUSS 50th anniversary dinner weekend. Not one but two trips in fact. (Or three if you count Ingleborough showcave.) The rendez-vous was, of course, Bernies:
It got off to an unconventional start with what looks like some actual trip planning:
But quickly it deteriorated to a more traditional morning in Ingleton. These two characters turned up just as everyone else was ready to go, and made us wait as they devoured their breakfasts:
...and faffed about looking at new gear to waste their latest grant cheque on:
The rest of the team was getting restless. I had to prevent this young lady (hmm don't the undergrads look young these days) from filling Dave's gloves with brown sauce by tying her shoelaces together. (Or was it the other way around? I forget.)
Anyway, ten of us did eventually make it to Bull Pot Farm ready for a Wretched Rabbit / County Pot trip, via the newly-discovered Spiral Staircase route. Here we are, ready to set off:
Left to right: Mark "Wendy" Stubbs, Andy Robinson, Sam Lieberman, Bruce Grieve, Joe Lenartowicz, Dave "Grovel" Hanson, John Bown, Dave Salerman, Gerry Ronan, and Phil Endecott.
We even made it out while it was light and got to the dinner on time.
See you all for the 100th!
